How to change your Stinkin’ Thinkin’ and turn your thoughts, and your life, around.
Have you ever heard that your thoughts turn into things, what you think about you bring about, or what you focus upon you bring upon? It could quite possibly be some of the best advice you could ever learn. You’re welcome!
No, but seriously. This is something that I’ve come to realize more and more during the past few years. It was hard to believe at first, but the moment I realized that I was manifesting into my life exactly what my main thoughts were or the things I was mainly focusing on, it was a game-changer for me.
It was actually a moment in my life where I was close to rock bottom. I had lost my business, lost my home, lost my car, and felt like I was about to lose my daughter in an international court custody battle. YIKES!
Have you ever heard of the movie The Secret? I watched it for the first time a few years ago and have repeatedly watched it over the years. Apparently though, during those rough years I was having, not even the incredible things that I learned from The Secret were pulling me out of these rough waters I found myself drowning in.
A good friend of mine told me about the book Ask and it is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks. I started reading it one night while lying next to my little girl in the guest bedroom of my friend’s home, desperately begging the Universe to keep my toddler safely with me. I couldn’t stop reading. Every word I read was a reminder that the reason things kept getting worse was because I had taken my eyes off of the prize. My focus was and had been on what terrible things were happening and what the next terrible thing may come about.
Now, of course, my way of thinking did not happen overnight. Change doesn’t happen that way. Your mind cannot switch off the habitual way it’s been thinking and switch on the new thoughts and new beliefs. After all, a belief is just a thought that you keep on thinking. That would be somewhat like expecting a 70 mph train to automatically switch directions. Everything inside that train would be thrown around and a total mess if that happened.
Same with your mind and changing your thoughts. You need to recognize, slow it down, and then gradually build up the momentum back to new positive thoughts and focuses.
Over the next five years, I continuously started using my thoughts and focus to change my life and create my new reality. I went from feeling like I was losing it all to feeling like I am living the dream. I went from losing my place I lived into building my dream home in Costa Rica. I went from about ready to lose my daughter in an International court custody battle to the first case in Cr to be reopened and overturned in the courts.
Some of the ways that I used to change my stinkin’ thinkin’ included vision or dream boards, guided meditation, writing, affirmations; also, I dumped the negative resources that I was allowing into my life.
When I changed my thoughts I changed my life.
